This adorable crochet mushroom pattern is weighted with Poly Pellets so it can stand on its own, and stuffed with Poly Fil so it’s squishy and soft.
Finished Size: 11” tall, 4 1/2″ in diameter at base, 9″ in diameter at base of cap
Materials:
Approx. 200 yds Super Bulky weight acrylic yarn (CYCA 6, Super Bulky) in two colors. Model shown in Bernat Softee Chunky (100% acrylic; 108 yds; 3.5 oz/100g) 1 skein each in Natural (A) and Berry Red (B)
Crochet hook size K/10.5/6.50mm or size needed to obtain gauge. Gauge should be tight rather than loose, for a dense fabric that doesn’t allow stuffing to escape.
Stitch marker
Tapestry needle
Approx 6 ounces of Poly Pellets
Small amount Poly Fil Stuffing
Pantyhose (I found some at the Dollar Store) or knee hi sheer, or other stretchy fabric for pellet wrangling
Gauge: 9 sts x 11 rows = 4″ in sc
Notes:
With the exception of Rnd 1, there are no chains at the beginning of the rounds. Make sure to mark the beginning of each rnd with a stitch marker.

With A, make a magic ring.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in ring. Join rnd with sl st in first sc. End off leaving a longish tail for sewing.
Assembly/Finishing:
Pin Spots into place in random order, sew into place with tails and tapestry needle.
Pour approx 6 ounces of Poly Pellets into the pantyhose leg or sheer knee hi. Stretch the fabric to make a fairly tightly packed ball the diameter of the inside of the stem, knot off hosiery.
Drop the knotted pack of Pellets into the stem, fill remainder with Poly Fil.
Stuff Cap with Poly Fil.
With the B working yarn that is still attached to the Cap, sc the Cap and Stem together – there are the same number of sts remaking on both pieces.
Before you join them completely be sure to check and see if your softie needs anymore Poly Fil – insert that if needed before finishing.
Join rnd with sl st in first sc. End off.
Weave in ends.
Hope you enjoyed this crochet mushroom pattern!
