This is another one of the patterns that I showed on Hochanda tv last year, now available to all! Concentric is a free crochet pattern based on using luscious luscious yarn, and a join-as-you-go granny square technique.
Now when I had this on Hochanda, we had a yarn pack available from Zen Yarn Garden that was a full skein of the main color and a mini skein of the accent color, but that isn’t a normal skein size for a lot of companies. So I wanted to post the pattern but I wanted to know there was an indie dyer I liked working with that had half skeins. And lo and behold, I ran into Melody Martinez of Haute Boheme Fibers when I was at SAFF a couple of weeks back, and she has half skeins! So (team effort!) the lovely Susan made me some new samples and we are off!
I know you hate scrolling before you get to the pattern part but here’s one more thing I want to say. I love using high quality yarn, but like a lot of people I do not have an unlimited yarn budget. I will say if it’s going near my face/neck it’s going to be soft, and it’s going to be great yarn, but I want to get the most bang for my buck. So (again, team effort) we realized that while it’s great to be able to get one cowl out of a full skein and a mini, it’s even BETTER value to get two whole cowls out of two whole skeins – so we tried it, and it works (if you reverse the colors 🙂
So get two skeins! One for you, one for a friend. One for you, one for a gift, two gifts, two for you, whatever. With the winter holidays coming up this is a no-brainer of a terrific project to start as they work up very quickly AND you get the joy of stitching with terrific yarn!

Ch-3 at beg of rnds counts as 1 dc (tr).
