This crochet triangle bandana pattern alternates solid rows with mesh rows for an airy look, which is accentuated by the watercolor look of the yarn shading from one color family to the next.
Make any size bandana you like – or buy plenty of yarn, keep crocheting, and you will wind up with a shawl!

Finished Size: 20” wide across top x 12” tall at center back
Materials:
Approximately 130 yds heavy worsted weight yarn (CYCA 4, Medium). Model shown in Lion Brand ® Yarn Landscapes Breeze. I used 4 skeins out of the mini pack (each is 68% Modal/26% acrylic/6% wool; 35 yds; 20g) but one full skein in the color of your choice would do it!
Crochet Hook size J/10/6.00mm or size needed to get a pleasing fabric
Gauge is not critical for this pattern.
Notes:
Colors shown in the model from the center out are Lagoon, Bay, Rainforest, and Coast.
Ch-3 counts as 1 dc
Ch-4 counts as 1 dc + ch-1
Bandana:
Begin with a Magic Ring.
Row 1: Ch 3, (2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in ring. Ch 3, turn. Tighten ring. 6 dc
Row 2: Dc in first dc, dc in each of next 2 dc, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in ch-3 sp, dc in each of next 2 dc, 2 dc in last dc. Ch 3, turn. 12 dc
Row 3: Dc in first dc, dc in each dc across to ch-3 sp, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in ch-3 sp, dc in each dc across to last dc, 2 dc in last dc. Ch 4, turn. 18 dc
Row 4: Dc in next dc, *ch 1, sk 1 dc, dc in next dc. Rep from * across until last dc before the ch-3 sp remains, ch 1, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in ch-3 sp, **ch 1, sk 1 dc, dc in next dc. Rep from ** across to last dc, ch 1, dc in last dc. Ch 3, turn. 10 ch-1 sps
Row 5: Dc in each dc and ch-1 sp across to ch-3 sp, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in ch-3 sp, dc in each dc and ch-1 sp to end, 2 dc in last dc. Ch 4, turn. 30 dc
Rows 6 – 13: Rep Rows 4 – 5 three times then Row 4 once more. Do not end off.
Ties and Top Edging:
Ch for approximately 10” and note how many chs you made (I used 36), turn to sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch until you reach the bandana, sc evenly across top of bandana (I used 2 sc per row but your mileage may vary depending on your gauge), ch the same number of sts for the second tie as you did for the first, turn to sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, join to last sc of Top Edging with a sl st. End off.
Weave in all ends.
