This is a free pattern for velvet soft crochet scrunchies in two sizes. They are beyond easy to make, and you can make several in an evening with one skein of yarn.

Materials:
Honestly you could make these out of any yarn with an appropriate sized hook but I used Bernat Velvet because it is so so soft.
For this yarn I used a crochet size J/10/6.00mm. Gauge is truly not important though!
Hair elastics – I bought a pack of 20 at the Dollar Tree
Tapestry needle
Small Scrunchie:
Start with a sc in the elastic band. For my first stitch I crocheted using both the tail and the working yarn to help the tail stay put – this yarn is a little slippery so weaving in the tail the normal way doesn’t always do the job! I also crocheted my first round over the tail.
Rnd 1: Work 29 more sc in the elastic band. You can work more or fewer depending on the yarn and hook size you are using but the important part is that there must be enough sc in the band so that when you stretch the band out in use, you have enough sc to go around. Join rnd with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in same st as rnd join, 3 dc in each sc around. Join rnd in top of beg-ch-3. End off. Weave in end.
Large Scrunchie:
Rep all instructions for Small Scrunchie but do not end off after Rnd 2.
Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in same st as rnd join, 2 dc in each dc around. Join rnd with sl st to top of beg-ch-3. End off. Weave in ends
