Yea, yea, I know, no pix. But the Kid has snarfed the desktop and I don’t have Photo Shop on the laptop, so you will just have to read today.
The book came on Monday – an actual copy, not a close, cyberspace approximation. I thought this was way cool. It is bitty – smaller than I expected – but it looks great. Anyway, I have been carrying it around with me for the last few days like it was a small pet. This works well because it is both smaller and much less fragrant than Cinderella Puppy or Cameron T. Bunny, and is unlikely to make a mess in my bag.
So today I took it on an outing to the local indie book store. I knew that one of the managers there is a knitter, so I thought I would show her my treasure, as all of my writer buddies have already said congratulations and I am still a little needy, congratulations-wise. But it was also a little nerve wracking – my writer buddies are not all knitters, and none of them have actually read it yet so they don’t know for a fact that it doesn’t suck. So I handed it to the nice lady (she is a sock knitter so she must be cool) and stood there not breathing while she paged through it.
And she laughed, and then she turned the page and laughed again, and then she asked me what my favorite entry was (for the record, it’s S.E.X.), and then while she was reading that she had to pound the table a little and laugh some more.
And I am so relieved that someone who isn’t a blood relative nor a colleague thought my humor book was funny! Amen!
We are going to have a way cool book signing/knitting/spinning/crocheting event there sometime this fall – I will keep you locals posted on the dates and times.
Knitters rock!
Congrats! How cool that she loved the book!!
You ARE going to sign my copy, yes? Maybe at the Rowenta party?
