Finished Size: 11″ Square. You can adjust the size by using a different weight yarn with an appropriate hook!
Materials:
DK weight yarn in four colors – I used Bernat Baby Stripes in Fireball Stripe (#53017) and cut the colors apart. You will need Pale Yellow (A), Hot Pink (B), Copper (C) and Dark Yellow (D)
Crochet hook size H/8 (5.50mm) or size needed to obtain gauge
Square:
With A, ch 4, join into ring with sl st in first ch. (You can also do a magic ring here if you prefer!)
Rnd 1: (Sc, hdc, dc, tr, dc, hdc) 5 times into ring. Join rnd with sl st in first sc. End off. 30 sts/5 petals made
Rnd 2: With B, (sc in ring between 2 petals, ch 3, push ch-3 just made behind next petal) 5 times. Join rnd with sl st in first sc. 5 ch-3 sps + 5 sc
Rnd 3: [(Sc, hdc, dc, 3 tr, dc, hdc, sc) in next ch-3 sp] 5 times. Join rnd with sl st in first sc. End off. 45 st/5 petals
Rnd 4: With C, beg in any petal, [sc in the central tr of next petal, ch 2, (tr, ch 2) 3 times between the next 2 sc, ch 2] 5 times. Join rnd with sl st in first sc. 15 tr + 5sc + 20 ch-2 sps
Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc around, working 1 sc in each tr or sc and 2 sc in each ch-2 sps. Join rnd with sl st in first sc. 60 sc
Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc in each sc around. Join rnd with sl st in first sc. End off.
Rnd 7: With D, sc in each sc around. Join rnd with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 8: Ch 1, 2 sc in first sc, sc in each of next 9 sc, (2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 9 sc) 5 times. Join rnd with sl st in first sc. 66 sc
Rnd 9: Ch 1, 2 sc in first sc, sc in each of next 10 sc, (2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 10 sc) 5 times. Join rnd with sl st in first sc. End off. 72 sc
Rnd 10: Join C in any sc, ch 4, (2 tr, ch 2, 3 tr) in same sc, [sk 2 sc, 3 dc in next sc, sk 2 sc, 3 hdc in next sc, sk 2 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sk 2 sc, 3 hdc in next sc, sk 2 sc, 3 dc in next sc, sk 2 sc, (3 tr, ch 2, 3 tr) in next sc] 3 times, sk 2 sc, 3 dc in next sc, sk 2 sc, 3 hdc in next sc, sk 2 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sk 2 sc, 3 hdc in next sc, sk 2 sc, 3 dc in next sc, sk 2 sc. Join rnd with sl st in top of ch-4. 4 corners with 5 shells between each
Rnd 11: Sl st in each of next 2 tr and in ch-2 sp, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same ch-2 sp, [dc in each st to next corner/ch-2 sp, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch-2 sp] 3 times, dc in each st to end of side. Join rnd with sl st in top of ch-3. End off. 108 dc + 4 ch-2 sps
Rnd 12: Join A in any corner/ch-2 sp, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same ch-2 sp, [(sk 1 dc, dc in next dc, dc in skipped dc) 13 times, sk next dc, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp] 3 times, (sk 1 dc, dc in next dc, dc in skipped dc) 13 times, sk next dc. Join rnd with sl st in top of ch-3. 128 dc
Rnd 13: Join D in any corner/ch-2 sp, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same ch-2 sp, [dc in each st to next corner/ch-2 sp, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch-2 sp] 3 times, dc in each st to end of side. Join rnd with sl st in top of ch-3. End off. 152 dc + 4 ch-2 sps
Finishing:
With A, work one rnd surface crochet chain st in the top of Rnd 5.
With B, work one rnd surface crochet braided chain st in the tops of Rnds 7 and 8. (See video for more detail)
What is the finished size of this square?
With so many rows it’s hard for me to figure out.

I am so sorry – I will put it in the post! I got 11” square – you could get larger with a bigger hook and worsted weight!
