Mossy Pebbles Ear Warmer

This very simple to stitch crochet ear warmer pattern will fit a wide variety of head sizes since it has a stretchy stitch pattern, and makes great use of a small amount of high end or hand painted worsted weight yarn. We all have those “special” skeins in our stashes don’t we?

The loose knot tied in the front gives both gives some visual interest as well as helps it to be easy to adjust.

Finished Size:

3” wide x 21” in circumference – it’s very stretchy and easily adjusted

Materials:

Approx 110 yds worsted weight yarn – the fancier the better! Model shown in Zen Yarn Garden Serenity Worsted (75% superwash merino wool/15% cashmere/10% Nylon; 100g; 175 yds) 1 skein Maltese colorway

Crochet hook size H/8/5.0mm or size needed to obtain gauge

 Tapestry needle

Gauge:

10 sts  x 8 rows = 3” in pattern stitch

 

Abbreviation

Ch – chain

Dc – double crochet

Sc single crochet

Crochet Ear Warmer Pattern

Ch 11.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in next ch, *sc in next ch, dc in next ch. Rep from * across. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: Sc in first dc, dc in next sc, *sc in next dc, dc in next sc. Rep from * across. Ch 1, turn.

Rep Row 2 for pattern until work measures approximately 44”. End off.

Finishing:

Tie in a very loose overhand knot about 1/3 of the way in from either short edge. That short edge is now the center back.

Wrap the longer side all the way around in a circle twice, overlapping the second pass over the first pass, so the short edges meet.

Seam the two short edges together.

Tack the two layers in an X at the center back as shown below.

Weave in ends.
