Polka Dot Duffle Bag

This sturdy barrel-shaped crochet duffle bag is perfect for a day on-the-go – use it for the gym, sports or dance practice, or carry it off to your local yarn store as a shopping bag because it holds lots and lots of yarn! Try different color combinations if you like, or use up stash yarn for individual dots for a unique look.

The polka dots are crocheted in a basic single crochet panel, placed by following a chart, then embellished with surface crochet. A fabric lining and zipper are sewn in, then the spiral-crocheted strap is sewn on.

Lining and Assembly
Single crochet each Side to long side of Duffle Body, wrong sides facing each other so the sc seam is visible on the RS of the work. Weave in all ends.
Cut two circles in lining fabric 13” in diameter, or the diameter of your finished side piece plus 1” for seam allowance (1/2” seam allowance all the way around).
Cut one panel of lining fabric, 17” wide (or finished width plus 1⁄2” seam allowance on each side) x 33” long (or finished Duffle Body length plus 1⁄2” seam allowance on each short side).
Press back seam allowances on short sides of rectangle.

Stitch lining circles to lining panel, right sides facing. Fold lines should meet.
Insert assembled lining inside assembled Bag
Pin zipper into place, between the lining and the crocheted Body. Machine stitch or securely hand sew through all three layers – lining, zipper tape, and crochet.
With Color A, whip stitch strap into place on either side of the zipper opening.
