This is a piece I did for I Love Knitting online magazine. It’s still available if you are a subscriber there, but if not, I can now offer it as a stand alone download.
I would call this an intermediate knit – the stitches themselves aren’t hard but it’s best worked with bobbins, which some people find challenging. I used a bobbin for each side border, and for each contrast color inset, and used a full skein for the center.
The pattern calls for twist stitches – sometimes in one color and sometimes in two. I will hopefully make a video on those sometime soon but at the moment have evacuated from Hurricane Florence and am far away from the video studio!
The twist stitch pattern in the contrast color is echoed in the main color through the center of the shawl. Between that and the glorious depth of color that is Sprout Worsted , you get a lot of textural bang for your buck.
I enjoy working with yarns from The Fiber Seed. I met the proprietors a few years back at TNNA and enjoyed talking with them, and while of course I do a lot of work in mass market yarns, I also adore working with products from people I have met and actually like! The Fiber Seed provides a Made in the USA product, if that’s something you care about, and I love, love, love their color range.
Thanks for dropping by! I am back to stitching on the TWO crochet books I am working on, and will update this post when the videos are ready.
