Materials:

Approx 275 yards worsted weight yarn in Black

Small amount worsted weight yarn in orange

Crochet hook size 7/4.5mm or size needed to obtain gauge

FloraCraft Fom Wreath, 13.8”, round (amazon link) FloraCraft rings are really solid and will hold the picks better than plain styrofoam which is why I use them. If you are using a styrofoam ring you may need some additional glue to hold your picks in place.

Assorted halloween picks of your choice!

Wire cutters to trim picks if needed

Yarn needle

Straight pins

Gauge: 16 sts x 14 rows = 4” in sc While gauge is not critical for this pattern you want a tight-ish fabric so the white wreath doesn’t peek through the black fabric.

Wreath:

Ch 21.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 20 sc

Row 2: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.

Rep Row 2 for pattern until work measures approximately 45”. End off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Note: You can end off here but I wrapped my piece around the wreath as shown before I cut the yarn so I could add or subtract rows as I needed to. Crochet fabric is stretchy so this is more of an art than a science! End off when you are sure your piece is the right length.

Assembly:

Wrap crocheted strip around wreath form, lining the edges up so you can crochet them together later, and pinning with straight pins as you go. Adjust the fabric as needed – I took 5 turns around the ring for a snug fit.

Align foundation chain and last row and whip stitch those together, using black yarn and the yarn needle.

With orange, single crochet all the edges together where they meet, following along with your pins. Join rnd with sl st in first sc, ch 1.

With orange, work 1 rnd rev sc/crab st in orange joining scs. Join rnd with sl st in first sc. End off.

Weave in all ends.

Attach pick of your choosing by trimming them down so the wires don’t poke out the back, and poking them right into the foam.
