When I designed the Heart to Heart Toddler Dress for I Like Crochet, I got a little carried away and made a sweet little headband to match. They didn’t have room for it but I DO so here it is!
Materials:
Universal Yarn Cotton Supreme DK (100% cotton; 231 yards /211 meters; 100 g) Color #705 Pink I used about 20 grams or 50 yds
Hook: US size G/6 (4.25 mm) or whatever is comfortable for you at this weight – gauge is not critical for this pattern.
Notes:
Foundation chain is in the center, and you will work from the center out in both directions. This is far easier to do if you put your first row in the back/bump of the chain.
Ch 3 counts as 1 dc throughout.
Headband:
First Half:
Ch 11.
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 6, turn. 9 dc
Row 2: Sk next 3 dc, 3 dc in next dc, ch 3, sk 3 dc, dc in last dc. Ch 5, turn. 5 dc
Row 3: 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in 3rd ch of t-ch. Ch 5, turn. 7 dc
Row 4: Dc3tog in next 3 dc, ch 1, dc3tog, placing first leg of the st in the same st as the last leg of the previous dec, ch 2, dc in 3rd ch of t-ch. Ch 6, turn. 4 sts
Row 5: Sk next dc, 3 dc in central ch-1 sp, ch 3, dc in 3rd ch of t-ch. Ch 5, turn. 5 dc
Rows 6 – 10: Rep Rows 3 – 5 once then Rows 3 – 4 once more, ch 4 after final Row.
Row 11: 4 dc in next dc, sk ch-1 sp, 3 dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in 3rd ch of t-ch. Ch 4, turn. 9 dc
Row 12: Dc2tog, dc in each of next 3 dc, dc2tog, ch 1, dc in 3rd ch of t-ch. Ch 4, turn. 7 dc
Row 13: Dc2tog, dc in next dc, dc2tog, ch 1, dc in 3rd ch of t-ch. Ch 3, turn. 5 dc
Row 14: Dc3tog, dc in 3rd ch of t-ch. Ch 3, turn. 3 dc
Rows 15 – 26: Dc in each of next 2 dc. Ch 3, turn.
Row 27: Dc in each of next 2 dc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 28: Sl st in center dc, ch 3, 2 more dc in same dc. Ch 3, turn.
Row 29: Dc in first dc, dc in next dc, 2 dc in last dc. Ch 3, turn. 5 dc
Row 30: Dc in next dc, ch 2, sc in next dc, ch 2, dc in each of last 2 dc. End off.
Second Half:
Orient work to stitch across opposite side of foundation chain. Join yarn with sl st in first dc, ch 6, sk 3 dc, 3 dc in next dc, sk 3 dc, dc in last dc. Ch 5, turn. 5 dc
Rep all instructions from First Half, beginning with Row 3.
Finishing:
Work 1 row of sc evenly spaced along each long edge of Hairband. Fasten off.
Weave in all ends!
