One of my favorite colorwork tricks is to use a yarn with a slow color repeat in tandem with a coordinating solid on stitch patterns that are traditionally worked in two colors. The multi-colored yarn runs through its color pattern slowly giving you a lovely, usually subtle, ombre effect.
