The thick textured pattern of the stitching as well as the smooth transition of the browns and oranges of the yarn made me think of an outdoor bonfire – thus the name! It’s a plush feeling square and will be a great addition to any knit square blanket.

Knitting needles size 7/4.50mm or size needed to obtain gauge
Gauge:
19 sts x 30 rows = 4”/10cm
Abbreviations:
K – knit
P – purl
Rep – repeat
RS – right side
WS – wrong side
Square:
Cast on 38 sts.
Border:
Knit 6 rows for 3 garter stitch ridges.
Center Pattern:
Row 1 (WS): K3, p2, (k4, p4) k4 3 times, p2, k3.
Row 2 (RS): (K4, p4) 4 times, k6.
Row 3: K3, (p4, k4) 4 times, k3.
Row 4: K3, p3, (k4, p4) 3 times, k4, p1, k3.
Row 5: K3, p1, (k4, p4) 3 times, k4, p3, k3.
Row 6: K3, (k4, p4) 4 times, k3.
Row 7: K6, (p4, k4) 4 times.
Row 8: K3, p2, (k4, p4) 3 times, k4, p2, k3.
Rep Rows 1 – for pattern until work measures 7 ½”, ending with either Row 4 or 8.
Second Border:
Knit 5 rows, then bind off knitwise.
Block if desired; weave in all ends.

I should have put that in Abbreviations – sorry! RS = Right Side and WS = Wrong Side
