This free knit scarf pattern takes good advantage of the depth of color in this alpaca yarn. The stitch, which is a modified staggered Daisy or Marguerite Stitch, offers a ton of texture which also allows the colors in the yarn to come through and shine.

I love to work with alpaca because it is super soft so it’s great to wear against the skin – in this case the neck. It’s also super warm so a little fabric goes a long way. Use the keyhole opening to adjust this short scarf around your neck to adjust your temperature when you are out in the weather!
Finished Size:
8” wide x 44” long, after blocking
Materials:
3 skeins King Cole Baby Alpaca Dk (LoveCrafts affiliate link) (100% alpaca/50g/100yds) in #664 Damson
Knitting needles size US 4/3.50mm or size needed to obtain gauge
Find King Cole yarns at your local yarn store or at LoveCrafts.com
Gauge:
22 sts x 28 rows = 4/10 cm after blocking
Note on gauge: Alpaca tends to loosen up during blocking and in use which is why this project is knit to a relatively tight gauge. If you don’t want to block your swatch (and I know some of you don’t !) be aware the scarf looks too narrow and too long and a little curly before blocking. I really really really recommend wet blocking this before wear.
