Brassica Baby Blanket

Brassica is a free crochet baby blanket pattern that features crossed double crochet stitches and shells to show lots of texture. Make it in two colors as shown – I bet a gradient would look terrific as the B color – or one color for a more subtle look.

Finished Size: 26” x 32” excluding border

Approximately 700 yds worsted weight (CYCA 4, Medium) in two colors. Model shown in Big Twist Value (100% acrylic; 380 yds; 170g) 1 skein each in White #16800518 (A) and Light Rose #16800765 (B)

Crochet hook size H/8/5.0mm or size needed to obtain gauge

Gauge: 12 sts (2 repeats) x 7 rows = 4” in pattern stitch

Special Stitches:

Shell = 5 dc in same st or sp

Notes:

To use this stitch pattern for a larger blanket chain a multiple of 6 + 2.

Ch 3 counts as 1 dc.

When working the second of the crossed dc, hold the working yarn behind the work so it encloses the first dc.

When changing colors make the last yo of the last st in the old color with the new color.

I floated the unused color up the left-hand side of the blanket and simple crocheted over the floats making the border, to avoid having too many ends to weave in.
