Yarn: Universal Yarn Cotton Supreme DK (100% Cotton; 231 yards [211 meters]/100 grams): #717 Purple (MC, 2 balls), #719 Orchid (CC1, 2 balls), #716 Aqua (CC2, 2 balls)

PATTERN NOTES

Ch-3 counts as 1 dc.

PATTERN

Hexagon (Make 105 total: 39 in MC, 33 in CC1, and 33 in CC2)

Use magic ring to start.

Rnd 1: Ch 3, 11 dc in ring, join rnd with sl st in top of beg-ch. Tighten up ring. (12 dc)

Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in first dc, 2 dc in each dc around, join rnd with sl st in top of beg-ch. (24 dc)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in same st as rnd join, sc in next 3 dc, *2 sc in next dc, sc in next 3 dc; rep from * around, join rnd with sl st in first sc. (30 sc)

Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in same st as rnd join, *ch 1, sc in next 5 sc; rep from * around, final rep will end with only 4 sc, join rnd with sl st in first sc. (30 sc, 6 ch-1 sps)

Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in same st as rnd join, *3 sc in next ch-1 sp, sc in next 5 sc; rep from * around, final rep will end with only 4 sc, join rnd with sl st in first sc. (48 sc)

Fasten off.

Finishing

Using tapestry needle, whip stitch motifs together as shown in photo.

Border

Notice that all four sides are not the same; two sides look like a simple zig zag and two sides look crenellated. Note also that each of the corner hexagons have 4 sides showing.

Rnd 1: With RS facing, join CC2 with sl st at top left corner point before a zig zag side, ch 1, (sc, ch 1, sc) in same st, **[ch 1, sk next sc, sc in next sc] 3 times, ch 1, sk next sc, (sc, ch 1, sc) in next sc, [(ch 1, sk next sc, sc in next sc) 3 times, ch 1, sk next sc, sc2tog (this will be over a seam and the first and second sc included will be different colors), [ch 1, sk next sc, sc in next sc] 3 times, ch 1, sk next sc, (sc, ch 1, sc) in next sc] 9 times, [(ch 1, sk next sc, sc in next sc) 3 times, ch 1, sk next sc, (sc, ch 1, sc) in next sc] twice, *[(ch 1, sk next sc, sc in next sc) 3 times, ch 1, sk next sc, sc2tog (colors as before)] twice, [(ch 1, sk next sc, sc in next sc) 3 times, ch 1, sk next sc, (sc, ch 1, sc) in next sc] twice; rep from * 4 more times; rep from ** once more, eliminating final (sc, ch 1, sc) in next sc and joining rnd with sl st in first sc.
