Who says washcloths need to be square? The Ranunculus Washcloth free crochet pattern works up quickly in this wavy two-row repeat and would look great in any combination of colors – or even one color!

Finished Size: 9” square
Materials: Approx 100 yds worsted weight cotton in two colors. Model shown in Lily Sugar’n Cream (100% cotton; 2.5 oz; 120 yds) 1 skein each Wine (A) and Rose Pink (B)
Crochet hook size 4.5mm or size needed to obtain gauge
Gauge: 15 sts x 8 rows Gauge is not critical for this pattern but you want a nice tight gauge because cotton tends to grow when it gets wet!
Notes:
Ch-3 counts as 1 dc
Abbreviations:
Ch – chain
Dc – double crochet
FLO – front loop only
Sc – single crochet
Sk – skip
Sl st – slip stitch

Washcloth:
With A, ch 35.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 3, turn. 34 sc
Row 2: Working in FLO, dc in first sc, 2 dc in each of next 2 sc, (sk 1 sc, dc in next sc) 5 times, sk 1 sc, 2 dc in each of next 6 sc, (sk 1 sc, dc in next sc) 5 times, sk 1 sc, 2 dc in each of last 3 sc. Change to A, ch 1, turn. 34 dc
Row 3: ScFLO in each st across. Ch 3, turn. 34 sc
Rows 4 – 13: Rep Rows 2- 3 for pattern, changing to the alternate color at the end of each Row 2. End off after Row 13.
Edging:
With A, work 1 row sc evenly spaced across each short edge, working 2 sc at each corner.
Weave in all ends.
