Worsted weight yarn (CYCA 4, Medium). Model shown in Loops & Threads Facets (100% acrylic; 100g; 279 yds) in the Dark Ocean colorway.
Tunisian crochet hook size 8.00mm
Tapestry needle
Special Stitches:
Standard Return: Ch 1, *yo, draw through 2 loops on hook. Rep from * across until 1 loop remains.
Tunisian Simple Stitch two together: TSS2tog: on the forward pass insert your hook through 2 vertical bars at the same time, yo, pull up a loop through both bars.

Notes:
Ch 3 counts as 1 dc at beg of dc rows.
Remember to sk the first vertical bar/edge st on each forward pass.

Cowl:
Ch 61.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 3, turn. 60 sc
Row 2: Dc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 3: Sc in each dc across. Turn at end of row but do not chain.
Row 4 forward: Sk 1st sc, *insert hook in next sc, yo, draw up a loop. Rep from * across. 60 loops on hook
Row 4 and remaining Tunisian rows return: Standard Return (see Special Stitches)
Row 5 forward: *Tss2tog, yu. Rep from * across, edge st.
Row 6 forward: Tss, *tss2tog, yu. Rep from * across until 2 sts remain, TSS, edge st.
Rows 7 – 17: Rep Rows 5 – 6 five times then Row 5 once more.
Row 18: Sc in each vertical bar across. Ch 3, turn. 59 sc
Row 19: Dc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 20: Sc in each dc across. End off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Finishing:
Using final tail and tapestry needle sew up the seam, using a whip stitch.
Weave in all ends.
