Cal is made in two pieces – the head and the body- and joined with a seam at the neck. Use 10mm safety eyes as I did here, or you can add the eyes with embroidery thread or black yarn for small children!

Cal is part of the CAL Central Toy Box Crochet Along! Click on the image below for more information!

Assembly:
Following manufacturer’s instructions insert safety eyes onto Head as shown in photo – mine are between rounds 3 and 4, with 8 stitches in between OR embroider eyes in the same spot.
Sew Beak into place as shown in photo, attaching only through the center/sc row. Weave in remaining ends.
Stuff Head and set aside.
Thread the ending tail from the Body onto the tapestry needle, weave the needle from back to front in the front loop only of each of the 12 stitches of the final round. Draw tight to close – fasten off and weave in ends.
Sew Feet into place on Body as shown in photo, somewhat to the front of center and angled towards the outside. Weave in remaining ends.
Stuff Body.
Using long tail at end of Head, whip stitch Head and Body together at the neck, adding additional stuffing if necessary before closing up the neck opening. Weave in remaining ends.
